History and Background of Balochistan Rural Support Programme (BRSP)

The Balochistan Rural Support Programme was launched as part of the National Rural Support Programme (NRSP) in 1991 and soon after was registered as a stand-alone organization under the Companies Act 2017 as a not-for-profit organization. BRSP has developed into the largest development organization in Balochistan and has developed quality relations with national and international donors; government organizations; and local communities.BRSP striving for poverty reduction and sustainable development in rural areas will only happen through community based partnerships in which BRSP believes that the most effective way of ensuring lasting change it to empower communities to make informed choices regarding their development.

BRSP works across almost all the districts in Balochistan, reaching thousands of villages located in rural areas. The organization works in some of the remotest and most inaccessible areas, where the government provides no services. With its large geographical reach, BRSP affects millions of lives across the province.

BRSP exists on the premise of organizing people a grassroots level into community institutions. These can be:
